Celebrate National Indigenous History Month with Indigenous-led content
Posted on June 29, 2023June marks National Indigenous History Month across Canada and the TELUS Local Content team is proud to fund and support Indigenous content creators all year round through our two funding programs STORYHIVE and TELUS originals. Since 2018, we have distributed over $6.2 million of community programming funds to Indigenous content creators and storytellers across British Columbia and Alberta.
Here are a few Indigenous-led STORYHIVE and TELUS originals projects that centre Indigenous voices and experiences on TELUS Optik TV Channel 707, Stream+, YouTube channel and the new TELUS originals online viewing platform.
Decolonizing Wellness | STORYHIVE

Piita Aapasskaan: The Kyle Young Pine Story | TELUS originals
Kyle Young Pine grew up in Calgary Alberta, distant from his Blackfoot customs and traditions. Skateboarding saved him from the generational traumas he faced as a child, but it was in Fancy Feather Dancing where he found his truest self. Told in collaboration with his longtime friend, filmmaker Brock Davis Mitchell, Kyle shares his story of transformation and strength.
