Vanessa Wenzel

I'm a Calgarian filmmaker who, after graduating UCalgary with a BA in Film w/Distinction (Drama Minor), co-founded Prairie Kitten Productions with the intention of creating a space in Alberta for content written, produced, and directed by women. In addition to my indie work for PKP, I've worked as assistant to Leslie Cowan in producing FX's Fargo Season 5, Amazon/MGM's Billy the Kid Season 2, and am currently in pre-production for an untitled series. In an effort to understand all facets of the industry, I have explored acting as an apprentice with ACTRA Alberta from 2019-2023 and the camera department as a Trainee and 2nd AC with ICG 669 on shows like Fortunate Son (CBC/NBC), Jann (CTV), Tin Star (Sky TV), and - of course - Heartland (CBC).
