Brothers Mike and Dave Young (Devin Townsend Project, The Matinée), joined by Mike St-Jean (also of DTP) were in dire need of a creative outlet. Sharing an interest in warm synth and programmed beats, the internationally touring, highly esteemed, and Juno-winning musicians quickly began churning out instrumental tracks that seemed to land somewhere between the post rock ambience of Sigur Ros and the pulsing beats of Daft Punk. Enter solo artist Dominique Fricot, an accomplished solo artist in his own right; his 2014 album, Sweet Little Fantasy, realized tours of Canada and Europe, and his single, I Miss the 80’s, rode CBC’s top 20 for eight weeks. His gorgeous baritone voice and unforgettable yet cerebral lyrics sit at the core of REGAL’s music.
