Janessa St. Pierre

I’m Janessa St. Pierre, a young black filmmaker born and raised on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. I have done one year of Film Studies at Concordia University and completed two years at Capilano University getting my diploma in Motion Picture Arts in 2017. I’ve been working in the film industry ever since. I wrote a short named Think Again that won Best Short at the IGen Youth Festival in Miami in 2018. I have worked in many roles including Production Designer, Director's Assistant, Props, Set Dresser & PA. I plan to develop my own stories as that's where my passion lies. I hope to change the landscape of what is know as "Canadian Cinema" & bring much needed humanity to Black characters.
