STORYHIVE Pan-Asian Storyteller Edition is offering new and emerging Asian filmmakers $20,000 in production funding to produce a 20-45 minute locally reflective documentary or scripted film or series pilot. In addition to the funding, selected projects will also receive mentorship from the National Screen Institute and distribution on TELUS Optik TV and the STORYHIVE YouTube channel.
The Pan-Asian Storyteller Edition is a reflection of the rich diversity of narratives from Pan-Asian creatives in Canada. TELUS STORYHIVE’s aim is to be inclusive of the breadth and depth of experiences of new and emerging filmmakers in B.C. and Alberta who are of Asian descent, across all regions of continental Asia.
Program Dates
Applications open: April 1, 2025, 9:00 AM PT
Applications close: May 8, 2025, 11:59 PM PT
Recipients announced: Sep 10, 2025, 12:00 PM (noon) PT
Production starts: Nov 5, 2025
Production ends: Nov 30, 2026
Project Requirements
Each project will consist of a 20-45 minute locally reflective documentary or scripted film or series pilot plus 30-60 minutes of Bonus Content. For more info, see our FAQs.
