Katie Zalazar

I have worked on many union shows across the city as an assistant director, including Sabrina, Supergirl, and Altered Carbon, and more. (read: Hallmark) But that's boring. I'm a teacher, really. I'm trained in education and am passionate about witnessing and hearing stories from our communities, especially youth. I teach social studies, sometimes english, and I work in alternative education with youth who haven't thrived in public school settings. Kids who deal with multiple barriers daily. I use my experience - both on set and in the classroom - to create content that is accessible, that reflects the communities we live in with authenticity, that is relatable, and that simultaneously pushes against boundaries of mainstream content.
